How are we going to keep our crops safe, and deal with possible problems like bugs, mice, fleas, etc?

I dont like the idea of pesticides, is there an alternative?

Are your cats mousers? As for insects I have a book about organic pest control with herbs.  We could try that.

Well, one or two cats might be, the other is just a fat slob. And not sure I can/want to bring them, its going to be extra food and expenses for the community.

I hope your cats aren't as retarded as mine: it catches mice, brings them indoors, and doesn't kill them...

I've got several mousers. They won't touch domesticated rats, though, for some reason Very Happy Which is good, cuz I <3 my rats...

If you guys want mousers, can supply several, free of charge. Otherwise, mice aren't a problem if you keep clean and store things properly when it comes to indoors.

And they make organic pesticides from cayenne. Maybe we could make our own? I think it's a simple issue of making an extract and applying it...

Cayenne will grow in the mid west? Why the hell have I been wasting my garden space on stuff like pumpkins and tomatoes?

Habeneros work, too. Iron rich soil spices them up. Smile Love the desert.
