lol, used to have a separate thread.

By the way, if we look into donations and possibly generating extra income somehow, would it not be possible to attempt and by the surrounding land? I would be happy with multiples of 8 as our population.

Well, if we start doing well my sister said she'll donate her 26 acres and I think some of my cousins might be willing to donate there land do as long as we prove that we can do well.  We would prove that by doing well with our initial land.  So if we could convince all my cousins and my sister to donate teir land after we start we could get a total of 160 Acres!

If that's not enough then most farm land around there costs about $3,000 per acre.  But the cost isn't the big challenge there's also issues stemming from that people land is their livelyhood.  Also most people feel a bit of an obligation to keep thier land in the family.

Yeah, and I was thinking it would be possible to buy the land from your cousins, but if they were willing to donate because we were doing well, that would be freakin' *amazing*.

What if we could buy the land from the surrounding farmers, and offer them our support if they can't do make it on their own?  Offer for them to keep their house, and keep farming, but we get a share of their crops?  Then, after a year or so, they can see how they are doing and either stay the way they are, fully integrate with the commune, or move out.

What do people think of that?

That'd be a bit touchy, especially since I don't know about typical rural farmers being the most open minded of people. We do want to make sure that everybody gets along relatively well, if not totally.
