You know, we could do this in a similar manner to Anarchist U. Put out our curriculum and let people come to us. Also, this could be a VERY effective way to institute a probationary period if we decide to expand our population at all.

Horrible as some of you may think this to be, I have every intention of becoming a corporate lawyer (at this moment)
However, that's a long ways away. First I'll just be studying business management with a law minor.
So, education-wise, I'd only be able to help out so far as making pie charts on exel. =|

Here's what I'm recommending. We should do something like Anarchist U in the way of offering classes (we need to keep our class sizes at a strict number though, so we need an application process.). Simultaneously, we should put together some sort of conference and involve an intern (or interns) to offer an internship. Students and interns would be accorded most of the liberties and resources available to commune members. We can also bring in lecturers and teachers from outside the commune to offer courses and lectures.

Now for the fun part: what sort of classes and what event?

I have no idea yet what classes we should offer, but I have an idea for the event.

We should have a commune conference. Invite members of intentional communities and communes around the nation or the globe to come or send a delegate to the conference and create cooperation and communication (as well as a sharing of resources and information) between the communes and communities. What do you guys think?

(copied from Safe Haven thread)
If you haven't already, you could check out Anarchist U. Otherwise, there are many levels to education. Rather than breaking it down into the separate grade levels, I'm going to break this down by age groups and competency: infant/toddler, child, pre-teen/adolescent, teen, young adult, adult. What level(s) of education would we want to offer? Do we want to conform to the grade and school leveling in order to insure compatibility with the official school systems? Do we want to offer classes specifically for people past high-school? Do we want to keep education as a task specifically for commune members or do we want to bring in outsiders and offer a unique educational experience? My personal feeling is that we would do best emulating Twin Oaks and Anarchist U simultaneously: offer internships and classes and announce our class listings each term as well as creating an event of some sort specifically for anarchists to be managed by our commune and the intern(s).
