1kW@ $700

Oh, I hadn't notice that one.  Some plain generators would still be nice though.  We could hook them up to anything.

of course.

Its funny how the 2kw@48v costs more than two 1kw@48v.

Anyway, I just thought that was a good ratio of power:price.

well... since I was just dumpsterdiving and found an old gaming computer... It doesn't seem to be very power hungry, I couldn't find a wattage rating, but on the back of the PSU it says 115v, 1A
so... somewhere between 100-125 watt powersupply... thats proof that they're not that power hungry...
I'll prolly provide it as yet another resource.

Water softeners have been stricken from the list because they aren't very necessary and apparently there are electricity free ways of softening water.

We just need to figure out the light bulb plan and then we can total everything up and have electronics finalized.  I would find it hard for each person to find a use for more that 10 light bulbs each.  I don't see the need for LED's so I would just say 200 CFL's.  What do the rest of you think?

Oh and also http://www.survivalunlimited.com/ It's every thing we ever wanted IN A ROCKET CAN! Well not the last bit.  Power generating supplies, hand powered appliances, composting toilets, food storage and much, much more!

I think lighting and electronics will depend heavily on layout. I think  we should make our highest priority the actual physical layout and then work from there before we finalize supply lists.

I think I'll start doing architectural sketches and submit them in a bit.

I'm also planning on submitting another one of my *massive* posts on the subject of education. I apologize for the size of said massive posts, btw, lol.

LED's are wonderful things, they're a bit harsh on the eyes, but they are far more energy efficient and don't experience the horrendous warm-up time of CFL's.
Oh, by the way... CFL's are 90% efficient... in producing UV light... XD

I know its long but does any one know how long LED's last?  If they last long and are efficient then we might as well use only LED's and just put them behind shades where we need less light.

10k hours on many high powered (3-4 watt) flashlight LED's And we only need like three such LED's in place of a 19W cfl

So far, lots of gamers. I'm trying to make Metamorphosis a convert, lol.

We can also turn off lights when we're not using them and while doing recreation.

Also, we might want to figure out what it would take to network all of our comps and, if we want internet service, what sort of server we'd need.

Personally, I think moving for an excess of power output to consumption would be optimal. If I remember correctly, the capacitors run at best efficiency if you keep their power levels at or above 80%.
