15-20 computers= 130-160 watts each/1950-3200 watts an hour
6-10 freezers=350 watts/2100-3500 watts an hour
CFL's=13-20 watts each
LED bulbs=9 watts each

Alright, we've gotten the list of needed electronics down to this.  The next phase is to figure out the electricity consumption of these items.  Try to find the most efficient ones you can like energy star.  I'm going to go look up information on lights.

Here's what you need to know about energy measurement for this phase.
amps x volts = Watts
Kilowatts = 1000 watts (Just saying that in case you don't know metric but I think most of you do)
Kilowatt hours = Kilowatts x hours (well duh)

Unfortunately the power usage is a bit much.

A cfl with the equivalent output of a 60 watt incandesant bulb uses about 13 watts.
for a 100 W equivalent they use 20 watts.

Oh, alright but you're in charge of looking up the wattage.  It probably wouldn't be any additional burden since we could just turn off a computer when we want to use a video came console.  I'm gonna go look up freezers.

Awww damn I have to get off my lazy ass and do something?  Laughing

PS3 takes up 380 watts apparently--I have no idea what any of that means though.

Wow, that's a lot.

That's less than your average gaming computer.

Oh, for computers, may I suggest netbooks as the primary model of choice?  They're light, cheap, and low power.  We may want two or three larger computers, of course, but netbooks will be the most energy-efficient.

gaming computer kicks ps3 ass.

@ Zeerahks -- A 750 watt power supply does NOT mean 750 watt power consumption.

I am running barely more power than a ps3 ~400 watts.... my GFX card is a bit of a power whore. but this is a kickass gaming rig, Like, way more powerful than a fucking ps3...

*quits bitching at ps3 suckage*

netbooks... what options do we have eeepc's, what else???

Is it just me or are we ALL video gamers?  Shocked

Which, maybe the best thing to do is have group gaming nights (rare solo play) on various mediums all together at once, maybe once a week, and not use any power that day/at that time (no idea how electric stuff works...god I feel stupid >_>) but basically dedicate a day or an evening to everyone hanging out, playing games, and then not play any for the rest of the week to conserve energy.

Seems like everything else uses almost no power so we should be fine right? Or will we GASP have to give up our gaming habits?  Surprised
