I am Dan.

I want to live on a commune someday.

I am not sure that this is the sort of commune I'd like to live on permanently, but I'd like to help talk about ideas and perhaps like to come help for a while.

I'm a senior in college. From NC, go to school in rural MA.

Hey guys, I'm Anthony.

I've spent a lot of time recently thinking about the living situation in the United States (and in almost all developed countries, really) and wondering if it's really want I'm looking for out of, you know... the rest of my life.

I guess that's what drew me here. I haven't really looked around at the forum a lot, but I thought I'd try to lend a hand with the planning and such. I don't know how much help I'll really be able to provide - I'm not always much of an idea man - but I can try, yar?

Anyways, yeah. I'm from Virginia, myself. Not a great place to be in, if you ask me.

You may call me Zane, or just Z.

Like Dan, I will most likely not live on the commune for longer than I ... well, longer than I want to.  I am a traveler by nature, and being rooted to one spot makes me ... itchy.  However, I am very willing to do all I can to get this thing up and running, and more importantly, growing.

That's about all you really need to know about me.  Anything more is just superfluous info...plus I'm lazy and tired.

It's great to have you guys here. Hopefully you'll see this grow into something worthwhile. Besides, with an endeavor like this, it's entirely possible to get something for everybody.

Uh, so hi.

Not sure if I'd be able to join this or not but it looks like something I'd be really interested in and love to help. I was pointed here by someone named Noir or JeSuisLeReveur I think. Cool person.

Uhm, taking a look around and liking what I'm seeing. Problem is, I live in California and am kind of broke Surprised But I'm guessing it will be a long time before this ever actually happens? And even then I'd like to get to know you guys better before I move halfway across the country for some people I've met online, sure you understand. Wink

Uhm, so about me. I'm...uhm...a girl! Apparently you only have one other woman here so I'm sure that's good news? I'm a mellow, timid, awkward, shy and rather wimpy kind of anarchist/communist/socialist/liberal. I'm also a huge nerd. I'm also the biggest pushover and have a really hard time getting angry, so don't expect much trouble from me if I do become a member of your kickass little project. Wink

I just turned 18 a few days ago, so I demand happy birthdays from all of you! I love animals and am vegetarian, but my fiance (who would also love to join this...more about him later as he probably won't post here) is a meat-eater so this is perfect for him, since every commune/community we've seen is vegan, which bugs me.

I'm very much in favor of letting people do whatever the hell they want, as long as it doesn't infringe my rights of (life, liberty and happiness) and even then I'm fine with being offended if it means someone else gets to keep their life and/or liberty. Live and let live is my philosophy, and mutual cooperation.

Hmm, my skills. Uh, well, I don't really have any! D: I mean, I can cook, sort of. I'm more of an "ecclectic" cooker meaning I'll throw weirdass things together that make people scare, and usually end up burning things in the process. I'm not good at physical work but I'm really good at...uhm...well I'm good with animals and kids I guess. Sad I'm fairly good at writing, art, design, and internet shit, and have an architect for a mother who might help out for free (if she even believes its real, that is...). I may not be the best physical worker but I'm willing and that's what matters. If anyone wants some random stuff I have, and you guys have the power to run it, I'm happy to donate to the group (if of course this all works out). Like, if you can run a PS3 and even /want/ it there, I'd be happy to give it to you all. Several very sweet pets I'd love to bring with me who you all would adore (cutest little rabbit in the world, sweet cats), lots of fabric, some money, a car, mattress, clothes, whatever. Again, if this works.

Am I rambling...? I'm rambling.

IF my fiance and I end up joining this and we're convince it's stable enough and we feel that we could spend the rest of our lives or most of them in the community, we may decide to have a kid. We don't feel financially or emotionally ready yet, but in a community, the financial fear would be relieved, and we'd probably feel more like we could raise a kid with the help of a community. It's something to think about, at least.

Hum...about my fiance...since if I'm going he's going (or I'm not going), joining rather. For the most part we agree on most political and moral issues, he thinks in a small community anarchism/communism could work, and would like to join one as long as his freedom isn't taken away, and he's very openminded, live and let live kinda guy. He likes cooking and cleaning and taking care of the house and other "housewife" stuff. He just doesn't like a lot of noise. He's shy like me, rather tall, and, uh, Belgian. See, he's a Belgian (he can teach us all French! Hooray!) and is trying to return to this country and become a citizen...so I'm trying to get my life started and get a job and an apartment so he can move here, which is reaaaally stressing me out.

I'm rambling again. Going to look into this group a bit more, wondering how soon it's possible it would be happening.

Oh, and pet peeves, things that are going to make me grumpy and snappy and maybe want to leave:

Intolerance and prudishness. Stuff like sexual preferences, personal choices, opinions, etc, ALL need to be respected by default imo.

Assholes. Those who are hostile by default make me angry.

Christians. I have to admit it. I'm open minded and respectful of Christian beliefs and all but in general Christians tend to bug me. If they're part of this group though, they're almost certainly not the type that bugs me.

Cruelty towards animals and kids. When I see this, I can't take it. I can understand eating meat if you need it, and even hunting. It's only natural, though I'd prefer only eating as much as you need and being very careful not to kill more than you need. Otherwise it becomes a pet peeve. I also can't stand it when people hit or kick their kids or animals. I'm all for personal freedom but that's hurting someone else and not acceptable imo.

Pink. It bugs me.

Jello. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, keep that stuff away from me. Seriously. I'm terrified of the stuff, don't ask why!

Also, I should mention right now that my fiance is, well, creeped out by lesbians. He's all for gay rights and gay equality for men and women, and isn't creeped out at all by gay men. But lesbians freak him out. He's respectful of them but he can't help it. It's cute and funny imo. So no, he won't be rude to any lesbian or try to restrict their rights, trust me. He'll just probably like, have to leave if a lesbian couple starts making out in front of him. Poor guy. Sad

So, uhm, I'll keep looking around, and trying to see when something like this might happen, and if it really is right for me. And if it's okay, put out my opinions, if you guys are fine with it.

So, uh, hi.

~Yvette (& Guillaume/William)

Happy Birthday!

And welcome!

Who knows, glor, you may decide that college is a waste of time and money.  Besides, it's never too early to start!
