Post Auxiliary Buildings  Reply with quote
What building should we build in addition to houses.  Here's what I've come up with thus far

cow barn
chicken coop
showering shack
Green houses

Kitchen and common area/cafeteria, of course.

The reason I posted this was because of an idea I had, but first I needed to make the definition of auxiliary building clear.  We'd been discussing the lay out.  Since a circle can't make use of Passive solar energy but some people like the communal feel of a circular lay out  I propose having half a circle of houses and the half being auxiliary buildings.  Comments?

It works for me. The problem most people have been having with the circle is expansionary, and I still think we can talk to some engineering majors and architects, etc., to devise a convenient way to make downward expansion feasible.

Sure a circle can use passive solar energy; it's just a matter of turning the houses all to face (south?  east?).

South is best east is OK

But the problem with that idea Z is that it would kind of undermine the communal feel of the circle if you were facing away from every one.

Not necessarily.  If the open end of the circle/U is facing south, then I don't see why it would be that much of a problem.
