Space

How much space do you think you would need to live hapily with another person.  This is the total of all floors.
UnMeilleurReve

I put 1000+ because I think it would make the best options for everybody. Again, here's my breakdown.

1600 per house divided by 2 floors, 800 per floor. Deduct 200 ft for halls, stairs, walls, and you get 600 livable per floor. 600 divided by 4 is 150, giving 150 per room or a twist on 10x15 at some variation. (any combination of that equates to 800 sq. ft, probably somewhere close to 30x30 (since the sqrt of 800 is 28._________, that way we can have square rooms to maximize space and efficiency in design). Build 5 houses and 1 common building. This way we have more than enough living space and room to expand our numbers to double or quadruple.

If I'm only living in a house with 1 other person that I get along well with (we're talkin' real well, like I can talk on the phone with somebody about sexual things, etc., aka my significant other), then I could be more than happy in a single room house with 250-400 sq. ft., or a 15x15 or so room or larger. If we're talking 2 people, 2 rooms, no common area, then it'd need to be 500-800. I have no problem sharing my space with another person and the size of a room wouldn't need to increase with a roomie, but I do like having a girlfriend and all of the various implications that means, so privacy is a bit of a must.

I marked  200-400, considering only living space.

and in the poll it says
"more than two hundred" and "less than one thousand"

Look again vov I'm quite sure I labeled it correctly

*cough* now that I edited it

WHY DID THIS THREAD DIE? THREE OF US VOTED FOR FSCKS SAKE
UnMeilleurReve

lol, I'm starting to notice the trend, too, vov. I'll talk to Yvette, Christie, and Rachel and see if they can get active again, too. Otherwise, this is a daunting behavior.

We can't expect constant growth and participation.  That's part of the reason the US Economy is in such a fix right now: people don't see that there's no such thing as constant growth.  We've had a large period where everybody was active and participating.  We simply have to accept that right now is the downhill side of it.  Everything that goes up must come down.
vov35

well our plans of self-sustenance should be appealing in times of economic decline shouldn't they?
I mean we will be barely effected by the condition of the US economy.
UnMeilleurReve

I concur twice. I guess this means I'm being unusually agreeable?
Zeerahks

I guess I should have made myself a bit clearer: my talk about constant growth applies to this board as well.  We simply can't expect to have everyone on all the time.  We have to expect periods of decline in participation.  It is simply a natural part of anything that includes human interaction.

This poll is pretty divided.  What kind of consensus can we come to?
vov35

I think lereveurs first post is the closest to the ideas agreed upon.
