Chat program

We need to come to a decision on what chat program or site to use.

I'll say right now that I don't have voice or video access.

There should be 2 votes by everybody that votes in here. 1)which chat program to use (if other, please specify) and 2)whether or not you're willing to compromise. Please realize that, as per our current principles, if we come close to a consensus of some sort and you are the dissenting voice and specify that you are unwilling to compromise, we may try to convince you to compromise anyways. If no sort of group consensus is reached whatsoever, then we should start debate. If there is any problem with the way I went about this, please let me know.

Aannnnnnnnd... GO!

I voted skype and unwilling to compromise Razz

Why? Skype is by far the best program. Really easy to set up voice chats, even conference calls, and it's really widely used so it benefits everyone to have it. Plus the guy who has a lot of members who is trying to start a commune but has no land and may be interested in joining us basically refuses to talk via text about anything important, he thinks its useless for real conversation because too much can be misinterpreted, I kinda agree though I hate voice chat but that's besides the point...anyways he's on Skype so it would be really easy if we used Skype to talk to him and see if he wants to merge with us.  I don't have any of the other programs on my computer anymore, they've been useless to me. Sad

But if you give me a cookie I might compromise...:3
Zeerahks

I'd be willing to use anything except MSN and Yahoo! (forgot to check Skype).
UnMeilleurReve

lol, fucking christ: I've already got MSN, AIM, Yahoo, Pidgin, Gmail, and Meebo. Not another username and password!

I only have an aim client, and i don't want more auto running bullshit lagging up my comp.

Go into MSConfig and uncheck some of the startup programs... (assuming you're using M$)
vov35

assuming i givew a crap what it is. if it sets itself up to autorun without warning me that its going to -> its malware and i refuse to use it.

As it turns out, this computer does have a microphone. I can use Skype until the 19th or 23rd or so before I'm no longer using this comp.

That makes it a tie between AIM and Skype at the moment. Should we just get on skype then? However, it is confusing as hell to talk to more than one person at a time via voice.

You'd be surprised how easy it is on skype to talk to multiple people. I've done it before, its a bit awkward at times but usually if two people are talking, others just mute themselves and wait.
UnMeilleurReve

lol, add my ass already!

Wow...you're missing out on a lot of good software.  It takes literally about a minute to set it to stop running at start-up.
vov35

contact info is attached to the bottom of every post...

Tie between aim and skype, but I'm okay for skype (since it works for me), meaning we seem to have a 5/5 for Skype. Unless there are any objections, it would seem to be Skype.

My only problem is that in 3 or so weeks time, I won't have a microphone.
Zeerahks

I currently don't have a mic, and won't for at least two weeks (paycheck, newegg, etc etc).  But after that I'm good.
vov35

my mic is retarded, and i have no clue how to persuade this retarded lego usb camera to be a webcam cuz the drivers for my OS dont exist. and i am in windows FFS
glorfon

I added every one on skype.
