If we're going to be talking and planning a commune, we should be sure that we don't hate or want to kill each other before making any decisions.

Once I'm less tired and done with my philosophy paper I'll start?

Basics: 21, male, anarchist/situationist, vegetarian, friendly, direct, good for getting shit organized and done on a whim or immediately, gay rights and environmental activist on the side..

should I just make a section for this?

I'm 17 and male.  My political views aren't really relevant to the commune because on the small scale I'll accept most anything.  My main causes are compassion for the poor, equal rights for all, and education reform.

my age does not exist  Laughing
male.

well, since its a commune, not a nation of its own, political views don't mean much.

I care about both the environment, and the rights of those being (for lack of
better terms) fucked over by the US.

not:
-vegetarian
-gay rights supporter

A section might be good, a thread might be adequate enough.

That, and I have a friend *in* Iowa who should be joining this forum soon. Helpful, no?

17, gender is a social construct, and I am a non-ethical vegetarian (meaning I will eat a good steak on occasion).

I am very very good at seeing things objectively and putting myself in others' shoes.  I am also very very good at seeing inconsistencies in both culture and behavior.  I believe that equal rights are due to all, mostly as a result of my not believing in gender roles.

I am a good cook, and I enjoy improving recipes that others give me.  I am a communal anarchist, but I also believe that democracy is the best system to support the population that we have, which is why I am more in favor of optimizing the current system.  If there were drastically less people, I would focus all my energies into revolution.  But alas, it is not to be.

I am a good leader and I am very good at strategy and planning.  I tend to address more issues than other people even see.

More exists about me, but I do not feel like divulging all of myself to you.

Okay, time to sit down and actually write this thing.

Name: Alex
Location: Las Vegas, NV and Caldwell, ID
Sex: Male
Gender: mostly masculine
Sexual orientation: straight (so far as I know)
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 135 lbs

Political views: Anarchist and Situationist
Religious views: Abolitionist (If god exists, it would be necessary to abolish him. Oh, and free the slaves)

Now that I've got that out of the way, Smile

I'm good at getting things done immediately and on short notice, as well as meticulous repetitive tasks (like stenciling) so long as I have music or conversation. I only do well with plans when other people who are just as dedicated as I am are involved.

I seem to be very talented at networking and organizing, the only catch being that the people I'm talking to have to be serious about what they do or want to do.

I have this tendency to have really high goals and expectations. One of them is to start a system of intercooperative communes/communities that are self-sustaining. Others include: a general societal reversion to close/personal interaction with all things, an underground secure communications network, a general unification of the radical left/left/etc., building my own house with themed rooms and high-quality everything, create an army of intelligent and tactical nonviolent and violent revolutionaries (much in the style of Ender's Game), make my own wardrobe, learn carpentry, develop a 128-bit encrypted BBS style communications network, learn to cook around 1000 recipes, collect and grow my own herbal apothecary (medicines, poisons, the works), start several secret societies, and much, much more.

I'm very single-minded and nearly incapable of multitasking. I am also very cerebral, as I have been told on several occasions.

I'm extremely logical (sometimes to a fault), and extremely convicted of my beliefs. At the same time, if you convince me against my beliefs, I'll be extremely convicted of my *new* beliefs. I'm the mythical person who you can actually persuade, but it isn't easy.

My specialties are: psychology, organization, politics, philosophy, math (but not physics or chemistry), networking, being friendly, having things that will probably come in handy at any given time (gauze, etc.), cooking, stenciling, infiltration, strategy and tactics, and locating people. I tend to need somebody to bring my head back out of the clouds, but once I'm on the ground and I know the framework I'm working in/toward, things get done. They get done fast, they get done well, but it all depends on the dedication of the people I work with.

I often have much too much time on my hands, while at the same time I have 30 things going on simultaneously. Most often, my highest priority is people, and I'll drop everything I'm doing to help somebody out.
Also evidence of my having too much time: how frequently I check my mail or reply to this.

When it comes to the "world," I think that anarchism is the most logical and realizeable ideal, but not globally. There are some intelligent, benevolent, dedicated people that would function well in an anarchist society, and that does not describe 80+% of the world. Therefore, I tend to be a bit of a seperatist. If you like your system, go ahead, but let us people with other systems and other beliefs go do our own thing. I think that our lives are not as intuitive, personal, or involved as they should be.

And I'd like to pose the question: how many people here are serious about the idea of starting/joining a commune? *raises hand* I am.

Aside from all that...
