Post Skills  Reply with quote
I thought I'd start a thread for everyone to list what skills they have (ie what kind of work they can contribute to the group, what can they do that applies to this or can just make life easier or more fun). I'll copy everything up here so we can quickly check what we can do and what we can't. You don't have to be really good or even good at it, but if you can do it, please list it. Smile Hope you're okay with me starting this!

Yvette/Selkie:
-Cooking! Risky but am good at improv/non-recipe cooking
-Taking care of kids and animals
-Easy physical work
-Writing, recording things, can create flyers, websites, legal or persuasive letters
-editing...good at editing stories and art and improving them
-decorating, painting, graphics design
-basic gardening
-mediation (very polite and mellow, hard to get angry, have mediated before)
-quick learner
-spotting problems and things that haven't been considered
-technically trained in CPR but can remember very little
-staying up late and working during the night, best at graveyard shift
-being in charge of projects I'm passionate about (apparently, usually I'm shy but I can be bossy and bitchy when in charge of something I'm passionate about Razz)
-teaching! I love teaching though am not trained. I especially love teaching others about whatever I'm learning. IE, Will teaches me some french and my mom gets the same lesson that day (while I forget it a week later)
-hopefully thinking of other skills!

Basically, I'm good at getting work done, finding people, organizational work, and a lot of handy skills that I plan on honing.

Look at it this way: I started learning these skills at around the age of 18, and a lot of them are works in progress!

Oh, I almost forgot!

I should be learning to knit and crochet very soon!
That, and if I get back in contact with the SCA, I can learn to spin thread and weave fabrics, but that's only if we want to invest in a loom, spinning wheel, and that sort of thing.

My biggest strength is that I can quickly and easily visualize and deconstruct complex situations.  This helps with computer support and programming, most types of combat (firefight, hand-to-hand, preplanned action, and especially guerilla warfare), and even psychology.  I'm fairly quiet and sneaky, and I am _very_ good at shoplifting.  Another good skill/talent is that I never freak out under pressure.  Also, I am incredibly good at manipulating people: I know how to speak and act in order to get what I want.  This kinda ties in with the psychology.

That's the basic list, though I'm sure I could dredge up a couple more things if need be.  I'm a pretty quick learner.

I am very good with programming and engineering, although i can help out with almost anything when needed.
I am usually good at guessing the cause of medical symptoms when non-disease related. i.e what affects the odds of migranes.
I can't think of anything that should be listed as a skill here.
I am good at rock climbing but that seems irrelevant.
^^ actually this means i know how to use safety harnesses and tie knots...
