How can we get the word out about the commune?  I've been mentioning as much as possible at the selfsufficienish.com forum but no ones taken the bait.  Wikipedia won't let me add it to the list of communes until we're started.  And I put it on STW under free housing.

I've been having tons of luck with direct, personal, word of mouth advertising. If you want me to outline an advertising plan for us, I can do that. My current schematics for advertising usually involve 12 people or more and a large city, so it'll be a fun challenge.

Sure outline it if you want.

I've been doing word of mouth advertising but every one that I tell is interested in joining the commune but they don't seem to want to join the forum and have any influence.

When recruiting for anything, you get several types of people.

1. Opposed
2. Not interested/apathetic
3. Curious but not interested
4. Curious and seems interested, but temporarily
5. Interested but skeptical
6. Interested but unwilling to commit
7. Seemingly super-interested and instantly committed, but falls out soon after
8. Seemingly super-interested and instantly committed, but a social loafer and inactive
9. Super-interested and hesitant but committed
10. Super-interested and super-committed.

If you ever manage to find 8 of the tenth option for anything, you've surpassed me.

I've been talking about it a lot, joining communist/political/anarchist groups. So far the people in the commie group seem interested but nothing more, they have asked for more information but not really responded.

A ton of people I've talked to are interested, but they want more information. At the moment, we have little in the way of concrete information, so I tell them that if they're that interested they should come participate in the ground-floor stuff. The few that do check it out get disheartened when they realize how much has been talked about, which makes sense because it gets hard to follow sometimes, lol. Regardless of how this goes down, the ones who join in and then stick with us probably going to be the type of people we want, anyways.

I let my mom know about it and she was mildly interested, then she warned us that if we're going to do this with our own physical labor (especially the farming), we've got our work cut out for us.
